BRZRKR Vol. 1
The bargain, the missions, and the first sustained return to B’s prehistoric origin.
Publication guide · no invented chronology
Begin with the twelve-issue original series. The later histories are designed as self-contained returns to different periods, while The Book of Elsewhere develops a related prose continuity.
Recommended first reading
The original series supplies the vocabulary that the other stories assume: B’s government service, his regenerative body, the fragmentary recovery of his earliest memories, and the difference between surviving forever and wanting to live. Read all twelve issues before moving backward through the historical one-shots.

The bargain, the missions, and the first sustained return to B’s prehistoric origin.
The study of B’s memories deepens as the government program’s true ambitions become clearer.
The original limited series reaches its confrontation with B’s origin, his handlers, and the mortality he seeks.
The three paperbacks preserve publication order in four-issue blocks. The complete deluxe edition collects all twelve issues in one volume; it changes format, not sequence.
Historical expansions
Read after BRZRKR #12. Their internal dates are often approximate, so publication order is the most honest default.
B serves as the protector of Atlantis while a hidden cult exposes the violence beneath the kingdom’s security.
A supposed survivor recounts the destruction of Olos, before the testimony reveals Queen Asana’s concealed identity.
A self-contained western chapter in B’s long and violent history.
The original creative team follows B during his service as a weapon of Genghis Khan in the thirteenth century.
A pirate captain discovers B’s damaged body chained in a box beneath the sea and draws him into a maritime conflict.
In the Bronze Age, rogue scientists use material shed during B’s regeneration to create an independent life.
Prose continuity
Keanu Reeves · China Miéville · Del Rey · first published 23 July 2024
A mortal soldier returns from death. The event points B toward a force at least as mysterious as his own immortality and turns the familiar black-operations framework into a wider investigation of identity, violence, and time.
The novel is inspired by the world of the comics but should not be forced between two specific comic issues. Read it after the original twelve-issue series, when B’s condition and the modern program already have context.
