Season Butler co-writes BRZRKR: Light Draws Breath with China Miéville, developing the Bronze Age story of a small B-derived life that must learn what it is and resist control.
BRZRKR record
BOOM!’s announcement names Butler and Miéville as writers and Alessio Avallone as artist. The special is also listed as one of the two stories collected in Blood Oaths Vol. 1.
Why it matters
The story changes the scale of the franchise. Instead of beginning with an already overwhelming warrior, it follows vulnerable development and the social choices that decide whether unusual material is treated as a person.
BRZRKR changes creative teams as it moves from the twelve-issue series into historical specials, prose, and announced screen work. Credit therefore belongs to a particular publication and role. A contribution to one branch does not imply work on every issue, and cover work remains distinct from interior storytelling.
Credits are most useful when they explain what changed on the finished work. Writing determines structure and language; interior art determines bodies, spaces, and visual sequence; color establishes atmosphere and separation; lettering controls the visible sound and pace of words; design and covers establish the publication’s outward identity. Each role contributes authorship without erasing the others.
Confirmed limits
The official material does not establish that the new being is a complete clone of B or that every ability transfers unchanged.
Unconfirmed dates, credits, contents, formats, or story connections remain open. Later official material can extend the record, but it should not be anticipated as fact.
