What the Light Draws Breath announcement and issue record establish about B-derived life, its Bronze Age setting, and the creative team.
BRZRKR: Light Draws Breath #1 is a historical one-shot written by Season Butler and China Miéville, with art by Alessio Avallone. The archive records its publication date as 20 May 2026 and keeps it separate from the original twelve-issue series.
The story takes place in the Bronze Age, where rogue scientists use material shed during B’s regeneration to create an independent life. That premise extends the series’ regeneration question beyond B without treating a derived body as a duplicate of him.
The issue is useful as a continuity expansion: it adds another case of B-related material becoming a person while leaving the new being’s identity and future distinct. The archive therefore connects it to regeneration, immortality, and the reading order without placing it inside an invented year-by-year chronology.
