Spoilers: This article covers the modern expedition and Source research in BRZRKR #7-11.

Caldwell's recovered artifact is the bird-shaped object found during the program's return to B's birthplace. It is not a separate relic from Mother's Gift. The title describes the object from Caldwell's institutional point of view after it passes from B's family history into government custody.

Recovery

Diana's work with B connects remembered landscapes, the ancestral cave, and the circumstances of his origin. The Saudi expedition turns those memories into fieldwork. At the cave, the team recovers the object associated with B's mother and brings it into the modern investigation.

The object has two simultaneous histories. For B, it survives his mother's attempt to protect him from the life his father imposed. For Caldwell, it is physical evidence that may connect B's body to the force behind the lightning contact. Recovery changes custody, not origin.

Caldwell's use

Caldwell places the relic inside a larger chain of blood, tissue, memory, machinery, and cult knowledge. He hopes that the surviving object can help make contact reproducible. That hope leads toward the Source-linked equipment and the final attempt to transfer B's condition.

The comic does not establish that Caldwell owns the artifact or fully understands it. His access comes through the government program and his concealed cult agenda. The artifact remains emotionally tied to B and his mother even when it is handled as evidence.

Identity and uncertainty

Because Mother's Gift and Caldwell's recovered artifact refer to the same physical object at different moments, their histories should be read together. Its maker, precise material, and complete mechanism remain unresolved. What is confirmed is the chain from the prehistoric family story to the cave, the expedition, and the modern Source investigation.
