Daiyu

Daiyu is the Captain's ward in BRZRKR: The Bleeding Tide and the child taken by the Sorceress. The original page's use of Myu is incorrect. Daiyu is not an identified member of the Captain's regular crew: Bashu, Alec and Denee are named separately. The Captain's obligations toward Daiyu place an intensely personal demand on her during a supernatural maritime conflict. The child becomes a reason for B and the Captain to act beyond the immediate battle around their ship. The one-shot establishes the child's name in dialogue and connects the abduction to the Captain's aunt, the Sorceress. It does not establish that Daiyu has the same powers as the Captain or that she is a member of the vampire lineage. The proper encyclopedia account distinguishes the ward's vulnerability from the adult rivalries that draw her into danger. Daiyu's rescue is linked to the confrontation at the Sorceress's stronghold, where the power of idols, summoned creatures and cursed blood complicates the effort. After the conflict, the Captain's relationship to B includes both the immediate gratitude of recovery and recognition of the longer sorrow carried by the immortal. Daiyu's story remains an example of the risk other people face when supernatural combatants use personal dependents as leverage.
